Connecticut florists decorate state house.
More
than 20 volunteer Connecticut florists spent the weekend
after Thanksgiving designing and installing holiday
decorations in the Connecticut gubernatorial home
in Hartford.
Patty Rowland, wife of the governor, asked the volunteers
to decorate the residence without using a traditional
Christmas red motif, so the group implemented Victorian-themed
decorations throughout the 19-room, Georgian brick
home. The florists donated all flowers and their labor,
and the Connecticut Greenhouse Growers Association
donated more than 125 Connecticut-grown poinsettia
plants in shades of pink, white and peach. Five Connecticut-grown
Christmas trees were provided by the Connecticut Christmas
Tree Growers Association.
